Italian Merino Wool
Biella, a northern town in the region of Piedmont has been leading the manufacturing of wool since the 1800s. This is why we go to Italy for the best merino wool available. Biella Yarn by Südwolle utilizes state-of-the-art processes to refine this highly versatile natural resource.

Behind Biella Yarn stands the family-operated company - Südwolle Gebr. Steger OHG was founded in 1966. In 2000 Biella Yarn by Südwolle was founded in Italy, uniting the tradition and experience of Südwolle with fresh ideas.

Merino wool has a microscopic diameter. The smaller the diameter, the finer, softer and less scratchy the fabric will be. Our Merino Wool is less than 18.5 microns. It is certified by WoolMark.

All of our Merino Wool is bluesign® certified. The bluesign® system is the solution for a sustainable textile production. Learn more
Our luxurious merino wool yarn is really easy to care for. Unlike a lot of other wool, our Italian merino wool is machine cold washable-(need to use knit/delicate cycle to prevent shrinkage and no mix warm + cold water during washing)
High heat hurts Natural Fibers. Place the sweater on a rack and reshape it as much as possible. Keep it away from sunlight and let it air-dry.
